What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

Adjustments correct subluxations. Consider an electrical fuse box. A subluxation, a misalignment in the spine, behaves much like a fuse. When there is a short, a subluxation will occur. This creates an imbalance in the nervous system, which can lead to multiple problems. If you are driving on a flat road, and the car veers to the right, would you purchase a new steering wheel? Most people would not. Typical causes could be a flat tire or poor alignment. The human body may have a symptom, but that may not be where the problem originated. By educating patients about how the body works, then a proper course of action can be applied.

~DD Palmer, (founder of chiropractic)

“When innate intelligence meets educated mind, then a proper diagnosis and treatment can be administered.”
“The cause of subluxation is trauma, poison, or auto-suggestion.”

This basically describes the Triad of Health in the vernacular of his day. To adjust the spine is a wonderful gift. To find the cause of subluxation is even a greater gift.

What is Applied Kinesiology (AK)?

Applied Kinesiology is a cutting edge diagnostic and treatment technique utilizing manual muscle testing. Although AK is used to increase the accuracy of a diagnosis, it does not replace standard forms of diagnosis and treatment.

The focus in using this technique as an adjunct to chiropractic adjustments is to find the cause of the health problem.

AK was developed by George J Goodheart, Jr., D.C. from Detroit, Michigan in 1964. Over the next 40+ years, his innovative and inquisitive mind has attracted the minds and hearts of thousands of doctors across the world to further develop this wonderful technique of AK.

The model for AK is the Triad of Health, formed by Structure, Biochemistry, and Emotions.

Structure:

This side involves the spine, bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, discs, etc.

Hippocrates~ “Look to the spine first in health and in disease.”

Biochemistry:

This side involves the cells, tissues, organs, and systems. When a deficiency occurs in the body, for example zinc, to support the body with the correct form of zinc will help the immediate symptoms; however the ultimate correction is to find out the cause of a zinc deficiency. To support the body with zinc only will only result in a disappointed situation.

Hippocrates~ “Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food.”

Emotions:

This side is most often overlooked. Emotions are normal and physiological, but sometimes patient’s emotions are not resolved properly by the nervous system. Unfortunately a conditioned response may occur in further similar settings thus creating a “stuck emotional pattern.” Using Neuro-Emotional Technique© is a remarkable, efficient, fast and exciting technique to help the body resolve conditioned responses causing stress and illness.
